Here are a few other tech projects I’ve worked on.

Read about projects completed during my senior year of college: Andrea, Funding Finder, Know Your Bill, and Netflix Redesign here. Learn details about my older projects by clicking on these links: QuakeKit, Spotify Redesign, projects for “Explorations in HCD”.

Funding Finder

Because of my outstanding work on this project, I am mentoring a capstone group continuing the work of a related project: Portable Air Cleaner Calculator.

I ‘m also working on a journalistic film project to tell stories about local small businesses that partner with LUX FIlm Production club.

Funding Finder is a mobile-first designed site that connects WA small businesses to funding. More details to be added soon. This is my Informatics Capstone project.

I’m the team’s project manager and designer.

Andrea Chatbot and Doctor Dashboard

Team Andrea aims to lessen implicit bias in clinical healthcare settings by gathering more patient reviews and summarizing that data in an actionable manner for doctors.

In this team, I’m the only designer. I’ve been learning to independently manage, communicate, and advocate for my work.

After an appointment, a patient will receive a text from our chatbot, Andrea. She will collect a review from the patient via mobile text. That review data will be displayed to the doctor on a dashboard.

  • Researches and draws inspiration from review sites, campaigns for creating more equity in healthcare, and medical sites

  • Leverages data visualization, UX design/strategy, and visual design skills to create this prototype

  • Has presented this prototype through writing parts of our report and in a class presentation

  • Artifacts: Presentation, Draft Project Report, Figma, Workflow diagram

  • Team: Daniel Miau (Project Manager), Chloe Lee (Technical Strategist), Stephanie Do (Public Health Researcher), Trevor Leung (General Researcher)

Doctor Dashboard Featured Highlights

Qualitative Feedback Section

This section of the doctor dashboard displays comments and suggestions from patients. I drew inspiration from ratemyprofessors.com’s Top Tags feature and Ulta’s Top Positive/Negative reviews to display the data in a quick to read, digestible manner.

Read and Unread Buttons

A peer reviewer asked us how we would hold doctor’s accountable for reading articles. We added the read and unread buttons to pressure doctors into reading these articles, so they can learn more about equitable healthcare and reduce their implicit biases.

Quantitative Feedback Section

My second iteration of the graphs draw from guidelines I learned in a class, Interactive Data Visualization (specifically from this Cleveland and McGill paper “Graphical Perception: Theory…Methods”). Due to a time crunch during my most recent version, I had to skimp on some of those guidelines in order to better communicate my overall vision. In my next iteration, I plan on revising to portray the data in a more accurate manner that follows the principles I was taught in my class.
