Ideas Tracker
We started with the ideas tracker because this product had less requirements so was easier to implement.
Competitive analysis and research on similar trackers, particularly paying attention to package shipping trackers.
Started with midfi designs using Walmart’s design system, tailoring to fit the Me@Campus app (a super app/hub used by Home Office associates).
Got design reviews from fellow senior designers then iterated on designs.
Got a review with product, business, and engineering stakeholders then iterated on designs.
We didn’t have a dedicated research resource so I took the initiative to lead the research while getting consultation support from the research team.
I created a research plan.
Recruited users in person in various Bentonville offices and did various tests. These were short interviews in a guerrilla testing style. My senior design team members supported me by doing guerrilla testing in offices in Dallas and Sunnyvale with researchers in their locations.
Then I conducted analysis on the research.
I created a 1-pager summary of the research and presented it to our partners along with proposed revisions.
I did a final round of revisions and final round of reviews.
First with the Me@Campus design team.
Then with our product, business, and engineering partners.
As the engineering team worked on implementing the designs, I supported them through answering questions and revising the designs to meet any changes in case anything was not feasible.
Concerns Tracker
Then we moved onto the Concerns tracker which was a similar design but now had to allow for look up of anonymously submitted concerns, comments, and more status types.
The rest of this write up is still a work in progress.
